Notifications overview

E-mail and text messages side by side, the five text events and where the SMS and WhatsApp plugin lives, with a link to its full chapter.

AIOBilling tells people about what happens in two ways. E-mail is built in and needs no plugin. Text messages (SMS and WhatsApp) come from one premium plugin, SMS & WhatsApp Notifications, which sends a short message to your clients and to your own team. This chapter is the short overview; the plugin has its own chapter with every setting, the providers, the log and troubleshooting: SMS & WhatsApp Notifications.

Where things are

  • Addons → SMS & WhatsApp in the admin top menu holds the message log and a test sender; its Settings and message texts link opens the provider and text settings.
  • In the client area the account menu gets SMS Notifications, where a client sets a mobile number and opts in or out.
  • A premium plugin without its addon on the licence refuses to switch on. See The licence key and Plugins and themes.

Good to know

  • Sending never stops the work that triggered it. If the provider is down, the invoice is still created or paid and the failure is only written to the log.
  • Your provider charges for the messages; AIOBilling does not.
  • If messages do not go out, look at the message log first, then Troubleshooting.
