Domain registrars

The Domain Registrars page, what the four modules can do side by side, the module log, and a table with links to the chapter of each registrar.

A registrar module is what lets AIOBilling register, transfer and renew a domain for a client without you opening another website. Four come free with the script. This chapter explains what they share: the page where you switch them on, test them and give them to your extensions, what each can do, and where to look when a call fails. Each module has its own chapter with every setting, what the registrar needs from you, a test routine and troubleshooting. Prices and extensions are set in Domains.

ModuleIn one line
Manual RegistrationNo connection at all: records the dates, you register at your registrar by hand.
NamecheapThe Namecheap API: full life cycle, ID protection and DNS host records. Needs a whitelisted IP.
ResellerClubThe ResellerClub HTTP API: customers and contacts are created for you. Needs a whitelisted IP.
GoDaddyThe GoDaddy Domains API: full life cycle, ID protection and DNS records.

The Domain Registrars page

Open Setup → Domain Registrars. Each registrar module is a card with its version, a status badge and a count: Used by N extension(s).

ButtonWhat it does
ActivateSwitches the module on.
ConfigureOpens its settings under the card.
Test ConnectionCalls the registrar with your keys and shows the answer in a message.
Use for all extensionsMakes this module the automatic registrar of every extension (TLD) in one step.
DeactivateSwitches it off. Extensions that used it go back to manual registration.

You can also pick a registrar for one extension at a time in Setup → Domain Pricing. An extension with no registrar is registered by hand: the order arrives, you register the domain at your registrar, and you mark the domain active. Manual Registration is switched on by the installer.

Every call a module makes is written to Utilities → Module Log with passwords and keys hidden. When a registration fails, read that log first; the administrators also get the e-mail Domain Registration Failed (or Domain Renewal Failed).

Sync is the daily job that reads the expiry date and status from the registrar, so a domain renewed or moved elsewhere is noticed. It can also see that a domain has been transferred away and when an incoming transfer is complete. See Automation.

What clients see

In the client area a domain's page shows the functions the registrar module offers: nameservers, registrar lock, ID protection, the EPP code, contact details and, with Namecheap and GoDaddy, DNS records. An administrator reaches the same commands on the domain page in the admin area. See The client area.

If a module is slow or fails

  • A message such as Namecheap is not set up yet means a required setting is empty.
  • A message from the registrar is shown as it came; most are about an IP not on the whitelist, a wrong key, or too little balance at the registrar.
  • Your server needs outgoing HTTPS (the PHP curl extension). See Troubleshooting.
